Endovenous Laser Treatment
Endovenous Laser Treatment
EVLT, or Endovenous Laser Treatment, is a minimally invasive treatment option for the removal of varicose veins in the leg. Requiring only local anesthesia, the procedure involves inserting a laser fiber, guided by ultrasound, into the vein, causing it to collapse. The body then reabsorbs the collapsed vein. The leg does not need the collapsed vein, and the procedure actually increases circulation. Clinical data suggests a success rate between 93% and 98%, higher than vein stripping or radiofrequency surgery, with a lower recurrence rate.
